  • The Quest for the Crest – The History Behind the World’s Most Famous Club Crests

Why are there fires burning beneath You’ll never walk alone in Liverpool’s crest? Which Swiss club inspired FC Barcelona? And what has Jägermeister to do with Eintracht Braunschweig?

From the royal crown on the crest of Real Madrid to the riveting hammers of West Ham, behind every crest’s symbolism lies a story, a tale of identity.

The Quest for the Crest explains why the crests of the biggest clubs look like they do. You will learn the background to some of the oddest crests around and their symbolism.

All major European leagues’ clubs are depicted – as well as the most important clubs in all other minor leagues both in Europe and from other continents.

In this globalized football world clubs are often forced to balance between the will of the supporters and the owner’s quest for new markets – an infected struggle that is often represented in the crests themselves – just ask Hull City AFC or Paris Saint-Germain.

The Quest for the Crest is therefore just as much about the club’s history as their future.

A totally amazing book (…) As much history and interesting facts a football nerd can get.
